Mirtos Men must have been the kind of shoes ancient Greek philosophers wore while attending lectures and dialectics at the Platonic Academy, when not barefoot. If you look closer at Raphael’s famous fresco “The School of Athens”, you’ll notice that one of the two central figures, the elder Plato, is depicted as old, grey, and bare-foot walking alongside a younger Aristotle, who’s wearing strappy sandals and gold-trimmed robes.
